Reopening of Errante Pizzeria and Wine Bar

The taste of Naples in the heart of Worms

For many years, the Errante family has been spoiling their guests with refined Italian culinary creations and tempting wines at the Errante Vinothek, located in the immediate vicinity of the Nibelungen Apartments. The kitchen team attaches particular importance to serving cuisine that goes beyond lasagna and pizza. But what would the Italian Dolce Vita be without the delicious flatbreads that people all over the world have fallen in love with and which are, of course, an integral part of Italian cuisine? To do justice to the art of pizza, the three Errante siblings Pietro, Francesco, and Claudio Errante Parrino have opened a new restaurant just a few minutes’ walk from the Nibelungen Apartments.

While the name is simply “Errante Pizzeria and Wine Bar,” the culinary offerings are much more complex, because the restaurant, located between Ludwigsplatz and the idyllic green space of Adenauerring, doesn’t serve just any pizza, but authentic Neapolitan pizza. And that’s more than just pizza. The trademark of this delicacy is a particularly thin base, combined with a fluffy crust that is still crispy, unfolding the magic of Sicily on the palate. This is a true art form, as recognized recently by UNESCO, which recognized the craft of pizzaioli, as the pizza makers of Naples are also called, as a world cultural heritage in 2017.

Three ingredients are particularly important for achieving the special taste of this pizza: time, a very hot pizza oven, and lots of amore. All three components can be found in the round delicacies from Errante. While conventional pizza dough is often only allowed to rest for a few minutes, Neapolitan pizza dough is allowed to relax for a full 36 hours before it disappears into the pizza oven with its fresh toppings. Of course, the pizza oven is not just any oven, but a high-performance oven that was delivered from Italy for the new pizzeria. As if the embers of Vesuvius had been domesticated, the oven generates a heat output of 485 degrees. This creates the incomparable air pockets on the thick crust that characterize a Pizza Napoli. The dough is baked in a few seconds, then comes the finish of the roasted aromas and the leopard pattern of the dough. This guarantees that the toppings remain fresh.

The restaurant also serves sophisticated pasta dishes. For example, the name of the pasta dish Spaghetti Siciliane promises exciting Sicilian moments, condensed for the palate. The unique flavor comes from the combination of pine nuts, anchovies, and wild fennel, accompanied by roasted breadcrumbs. There is also a tempting selection of antipasti, including various bruschetta variations, as well as Italian desserts. The Mediterranean delicacies are rounded off by selected Italian wines, whose flavor is naturally influenced by the Italian sun.
